· Be the first, never the last, to rehearsals.
· Always have the needed and required rehearsal equipment.
· Wear appropriate rehearsal
attire – proper shoes, shorts, etc.
· Demonstrate desire, spirit and enthusiasm for
learning, working, and contributing.
· Be one of those students who is always there,
and can always be counted on.
· Prepare and master your part of the performance in
advance of rehearsal. Ask for help if necessary… we want you to succeed!
· Believe
that “Doing your very best is what is needed to succeed.”
· Refrain from making comments
or carrying on a conversation during a rehearsal.
· Maintain eye contact with Instructor
or Officer in Charge.
· Use “High-Intensity Listening.”
· Stop immediately when cut-off is given or move is completed.
· Exhibit enthusiasm for
practice and understand the need for repetition.
· If you experience failure, analyze
it and make a plan to improve and succeed the next time.
· Turn work into play! Enjoy
rehearsing whether it is hot, cold, or rainy.
· Try to learn something new every day.
· Remember: “The Band will only be as good as my attitude and my contribution.”
· Be
humble in your success. Demonstrate class in all situations.
· Prepare for the next
rehearsal.
· Always give 100%. Don’t waste time and energy by being the cause of, or
contributing to unproductive rehearsals.
Tardiness, early dismissals, and/or absences must be approved. The student’s performing status and grade will reflect any conflict
in this area. The Band will try to do what is fair for all students. Our consideration of these absences is
given as a courtesy. Sports are a worthwhile endeavor and the Band endorses its full support to the Athletic Department.

§ Going out of town
§ Church events (schedule is open to accommodate people on Wednesday
and Sunday nights)
§ Non-emergency doctor or dentist appointments. These should
be scheduled around band events
§ Shopping or hair appointments
§ Beauty contests/talent shows outside of school
§ Claiming someone “made you late”
§ Rock concerts
§ Other school and after school related activities (unless arrangements
have already been made between the band director and coach/sponsor)
EXAMPLES OF EXCUSED ABSENCES:
§ Extreme illness
§ Sudden emergencies
§ Death in the family
*Unforeseen events may arise, so these
will be dealt with on an individual basis by the director.
